Super ton Site!
As tu dela tente d’implementer par hasard?

Salut Vincent,
Hi, I’d thought I (at least try) to give something back.
I think i read you also noted that the mr assemblies with SI 2010, don’t really work on the pass system. Because they forgot(?) to implement the one line in the mr docs that say you can inherit the material. Which would have been so nice. I read that it looks like it might be fixed in 2011, but we don’t all have that.
So here is a solution that he did come up with, we had another, but at the moment its hiding somewhere on the corner of a drive somewhere
But this should work as good I think. I hope this helps you.
The idea is that if you create a multi pass standing system, lets just say 2 passes a blinn and an AO, that you want to use Standin’s in, but you really cant. But if you notice that the Standin creates an item in the explorer called Standin. This contains the name of the Stanin file.
What I believe Steven did was to create a pass that only created the exported Standin’s that created a unique name for each item, eg Pass1_Standin, Pass2_Standin, by rendering (exporting) only the Standins, for each pass. (this maybe confusing but) in a pass on its own (standin pass). (and ensuring it is always the 1st pass rendered)
The second complete pass where everything got rendered (except the standing pass), used the siOnBeginPassChange to get the pass name (Pass1,Pass2 etc) and to change the standin filename in the explorer as mentioned before, dependent on the pass name.
I know this maybe all moot because of 2011, (they listened?) but not all productions will ‘instantly’ change over. There was another ‘dirty’ solution, if and when i find it I’ll let you know.
Thanks for all the material on the site, I do enjoy reading it.
Great blog man, tons of good stuff !
Saw your ICE Modeling videos on stephen´s screencast by the way, really amazing !!!!
